About W↑SE UP

Our Vision

Our vision is to see at-risk youth with proven desire and ability achieve success in higher education, career, and life choices.

Our Mission

To assist at-risk youth with proven desire and ability through the college admission and financial aid process, providing on-going mentoring through degree completion.
Many high school students are capable of college level work, but because of their family circumstances they do not see college in their future. Factors such as low-income, homelessness, not having a parent who went to college, drug and alcohol addiction in the home, domestic violence and others all contribute to a student starting off behind their privileged peers, making them at-risk for succeeding in a chosen career and being financially independent.

WISE UP will work with at-risk youth starting in the early years of high school. We want to give these students hope of a better future through higher education. Because these students may not have a family to support them through the college process, WISE UP will come alongside the student and stay with them from SAT preparation through final graduation. Services we offer include help in selecting the college that is right for the student, application and essay assistance, and finding and applying for scholarships, grants, and financial aid. Once the student is accepted into college, we will provide ongoing mentoring to help the student adjust to college life, select courses, get academic help as needed, and to be a friend and source of advice. We will continue to serve the students in the same way if they decide to go on to graduate school and get an advanced degree.

All services we provide are at no cost to the student or their family.
